Justice For George Floyd
June 1, 2020
Black Lives Matter. We stand with our community demanding justice for George Floyd.
We stand in solidarity with all the communities across the country demanding justice for Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, James Scurlock, and for all Black lives stolen by the hands of police departments around the country. George Floyd should be alive today. George’s life matters. We know the system is not broken, it is functioning exactly as it was designed: to protect whiteness and wealth at all costs while actively oppressing Black lives, dreams, and futures.
We were reminded by our incredible BIPOC [Black, Indigenous and People of Color] community members this weekend that as an organization with primarily white leadership and participants, we need to demonstrate our commitment to dismantling the system that serves and protects white supremacy. We are working to create actionable, measurable solutions to address the inequities that are in our organization to move forward together. We will keep you all updated on those steps soon.
In the meantime, we all need to take action to stand up for our communities and to protect Black lives. We have listed several resources below, including resources for white and non-Black community members to do their own, deep anti-racism work.
