NEW REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR 2020!
We are excited to announce a change to our GRRR registration process this year!
In keeping with our 2020 theme of TAKE SPACE, MAKE SPACE, we will be holding a pre-registration period for our community partner participants and We See You scholarship campers.
We regularly receive more GRRR applications then we are able to accommodate, so we are making this change to better serve the Twin Cities community and give participants who have typically been underserved by our organization a chance to register before the general community. We are making this shift in recognition that camp has traditionally been inaccessible to campers of color, trans and nonbinary campers and campers with disabilities. We will use this new application process to ensure a camper cohort who bring a multitude of identities, musical interests and experiences to our summer programs.
Pre-registration for our partner sites and We See You scholarship applicants opens on February 3rd, 2020
General registration opens on March 2nd, 2020
What is G.R.R.R?
Celebrating our fourteenth year in 2020, this annual day camp (9am-5pm daily) offers 5 days of music lessons, playing in a band, art classes, exciting workshops and a Friday night concert for girls, trans and nonbinary youth ages 9-16 (and this year we'll also have a teen session for ages 13-18!). Our camp is offered to participants who play or want to learn electric guitar, electric bass, drums, vocals, keyboards or produce with a digital electronic instrument. We accept campers of all levels on each instrument, NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Camp is five days and is loaded with workshops including songwriting, gender identity, anti-oppression training, activism, body confidence, self-defense, stage presence, band art and of course instrument and band practice. For campers with lots of prior musical experience, we will be offering additional workshops and advanced songwriting classes this year! Our teachers are all professional musicians from right here in the Twin Cities music scene. At the end of five days, our campers will have: formed a band, written original music, created logos and merchandise for their band, improved their instrumental skills and will perform TWO concerts for friends and family on Friday night!
